GIS TRAINING

We provide  GIS training tailored to your individual needs. The training can be given in either ArcView or QGIS. Ranging from “Zero to Hero” one day courses designed to familiarise you with GIS and the terminology used to advanced courses such as data visualisation and web map production. More recently we have been providing advice on effective data capture in the field and insuring spatial integrity.

QGIS “Zero to Hero” 1 day course outline

    • Installation of QGIS
      Introduction to QGIS interface
      Provision of free OS products
      Main data types – raster and vector
      Loading Data
      Symbolising Data
      Filtering data
      Creating a project template
      Projections, what are they and why are they important?
      Adding plugins – example of  QuickMapServices allowing access to Google and Bing aerial imagery
      Producing maps in PDF and JPEG
      Setting up of a layout template

By the end of the the course the student will have all the knowledge they need as well as project and layout templates to start producing maps. Support is provided after the course via phone or email. Courses start at £350 a day + VAT

GIS SUPPORT

We can provide support for all your on-going GIS projects whether you are struggling with some technical aspect or are going for a migration from ArcMAP to QGIS. For support calls we charge a minimum of one hour. Invoices will be sent at the end of each month. I generally aim to reply to support requests within 24 hours but if I am working out on site it may be longer.

GIS SERVICES

As well as the support and training I undertake bespoke GIS projects including:-

    • Developing work flows for accurate data capture, specialising in GPS to map workflows
      Data cleansing
      Production of map based promotional material
      Production of bespoke web based mapping applications using the Leaflet API for websites or arcgis online
